How To Fight Ageing: Surgery Vs Cosmetics

Cosmetic surgery is the popular secret indulgence of celebrities and an increasing number of teenage girls who are keen to enhance, nip, tuck and boost areas of their bodies and faces.  But the strong force opposing this surgery trend is the women pioneering the natural approach to beauty through diet, lifestyle and risk-free beauty products such as face creams and lotions.

Fight Ageing: Surgery Vs Cosmetics

These are some of the most popular complaints as side-effects of aging with a surgical solution versus a cosmetic solution. Which will you choose?

Problem: Droopy Eyelids
As we get older, our skin loses elasticity, particularly around the delicate eye area. This
can cause the skin to sag around the eyes, making them develop into loose folds and creases, causing the dreaded ‘crow’s feet’. The muscles around the eyes also lose firmness, making the fat around the eye bulge slightly and appear puffy.

Surgery solution: Lid lift (blepharoplasty)
One of the most popular eye cosmetic surgeries is a lid lift (blepharoplasty) which involves removing loose skin beneath the brow which may seem to droop over eyelids giving a heavier, darker look. It is also used for reducing puffiness around the eye area. The surgery will involve either a local or general anaesthesia. Under general anaesthesia, the patient is fully sedated, whereas local anaesthesia is carried out when conscious but the eye area is completely numbed. The surgeon will then gently make cuts along the natur
al folds in your eyelid and remove excess fat, muscle and loose skin. The cut is then sealed up with tiny stitches to leave minimal scarring.

Quick facts:
Cost: £1,500=£3000
Recovery Time: At least 1 week
Side Effects: swelling, bruising, discomfort, dry, itchy eyes, sensitivity to light, blurred vision.
Results: 5-20 years

Cosmetic solution: highlighting and white eyeliner
Using a few simple tricks, you may be able to recreate the effects of surgery with the contents of your makeup bag. Celebrities such as Kim Kardashian and Emma Stone are fans of using highlighting makeup to lighten and contour specific areas of the face.  Using a highlighting pen such as MAC Prep & Prime Highlighter, apply the highlight to the inner and outer corners of your eyes to brighten, lighten and awaken. Alternatively, wear as a primer under foundation to give the whole eye area a more youthful appearance.  Alternatively, white eyeliner can be used for the same effect when applied to the inner corners and along the lower lash line.

Cost: Around £18 (for MAC’s highlighter)

Problem: Puffy eye bags
As with heavy eyelid drooping, puffy eye bags form as a result of a slackening of the muscles in the eye area. Fat which lies behind the eyeball become more prominent below the eye forming puffiness and often a resulting dark shadow. This can create a tired, aged appearance many women are keen to avoid.

Surgical solution: Fast repositioning/Laser or Transconjunctival blepharoplasty
Fat repositioning involves the surgeon extracting fat from the eyelid and repositioning it lower- just above the cheek bones. This is believed to add a youthful plumpness to the cheeks whilst removing unwanted eye bags. Similarly, transconjunctival blepharoplasty involves a slight incision, but in this case it is made on the inside of the lower eyelid (the conjunctiva). This is believed to help support the recovery of the lower eyelids and reduce the risk of scarring.

Quick Facts:
Cost: £1500- £2500
Recovery time: Around 3 days
Side effects: Bruising, swelling, bleeding
Results: 5-20 years

Cosmetic solution: caffeine eye roll-on
To reduce puffy eye bags and dark circles, cosmetic brands have released countless ranges of creams and lotions, but one product seems to stand out. The Garnier Caffeine Eye Roll-on features a smooth metal roller ball which is enriched with caffeine to sooth puffy eyes. Caffeine is naturally anti-inflammatory, helping to reduce bags and make eyes feel revitalised. Garnier have also released a concealer version which releases a small amount of eye concealer to help hide dark circles and reduce bags all at once.

Cost: £6.99
Recovery time: N/A
Side effects: N/A
Results: 24 hours
So if you’re considering the options to fight the signs of ageing, it’s worth considering cosmetic alternatives to drastic- and often pricey- cosmetic surgery. If you think surgery is the only option, be sure to research the most reliable, experienced surgeons to work with and always consult a GP before making any final decisions.

Home Permanent Hair Removal Solutions

There are numerous ways that you can remove unwanted hair from various parts of your body, from shaving and waxing to creams and laser hair removal. However, a big decision you need to make is whether to have a go yourself and remove your hair in your own home or go to the additional expense of attending a hair removal boutique to have it professionally removed.

hair removal tips

For some, it will be a difficult decision, especially if you are on a tight budget. But for others that can afford the cost of the treatment, it is surely much better to have your hair removed by specially trained therapists.
After all, you have a limited number of options if you choose to remove your own hair at home. For instance, you could choose the most popular option of shaving. Shaving is an inexpensive way of removing hair and is relatively painless as long as you are careful not to cut yourself during the delicate process.

Another option for home hair removal is waxing. Just mentioning the word probably makes you cringe when you think back to when you last waxed your legs or underarms. Do you remember the pain as you ripped the cotton material away from your leg to witness all those unwanted hairs stuck to the material? However, it did not end there, as it is likely to take several attempts to remove all the hair from those legs and you will have to go through the whole process again in a few weeks.

So, why go through all this pain when you can call into your local hair removal boutique to take advantage of a couple of other more up to date hair removal treatments?

For instance, you could have laser hair removal that is much less painful than waxing and it may remove anything up to 80 per cent of your unwanted hair over a series of about six sessions. Periodically, you could return for further sessions in the future but a lot less frequently than shaving and waxing.

Alternatively, a hair removal boutique may be qualified to arrange intense or square-pulsed light hair removal that produces even better results than laser hair removal as it targets each individual hair. This can also be carried out over a series of sessions so you would be able to spread the cost, making it more attractive from a financial perspective.

The other thing to bear in mind is that you could have your legs professionally waxed at a hair removal boutique. Although it would obviously cost more than if you did it yourself, a professional therapist is likely to give better results than you have has previously and you would probably find it is a less painful experience.
Ultimately, the choice between a home hair removal job and a professional appointment is up to personal preference. Although the costs may differ, a professional may cost less in the long run. Book a consultation with a beauty clinic near you to discuss the different options and figure out which one is best for you.

Style Can't Afford To Miss Out On 3D Nail Art

Nail art is one of the easiest skills to pick up, and within moments any novice can create the most original and unique styles imaginable. If you’re someone who is a fan of the nail art movement and wanted to know where to start in this exciting world, then 3D appliques should be the first stop you make.

Whilst people used to be satisfied with a simple coat of coloured enamel in the past, the most recent years have seen the bar become raised significantly. It may seem like a small aspect, but nail art is something the makes the wearer more eye-catching and stand out from the crowd as someone with an appreciation for style.

3D Nail Art

Nail art is fun enough for all ages to enjoy, from children to adults. Whilst it is loved by most females, the use of 3D nail art in particular is most done by young women with a spark of creativity. This minimalist look adds a bit of luxury to your already styled nails.

Nail art comes in a number of different designs, but the most common one, appliques are simple to apply yourself. Simply invest in a good nail adhesive and attach the nail art to your nail with some tweezers for a precise application. Nail art can also come in the form of 3D stickers, which are as easy to apply as they sound! Whilst it’s fun to experiment with nails and come up with different ideas, you should try and come up with a theme rather than a clumsy design of unrelated nail arts. It’d look strange if you had one nail with got
The greatest points of 3D nail art are that you don’t need to go to a salon or specialist in order to come away with great looking nails. It’s easy to learn, and the supplies are usually very affordable so you can boast a huge collection in no time. Wrinkle Removal with Laser Skin Rejuvenation

Remaining looking youthful with a plumb, smooth skin whilst at the same time reaching a high age has always been a farfetched, unreachable dream, but with fast technological advancement the beauty industry is creating procedures that would have been unimaginable 10 years ago and are becoming common practice. Whether it’s through a surgical facelift, botox or other injections like Hydrafill and Juvederm, a facial peel or microdermabrasion, or now more popularly laser skin rejuvenation, maintaining your youthful appearance has never been easier and socially acceptable and expected. We feel the pressure more than ever with a huge plethora of options for wrinkle removaltreatments readily available to any of us – only restricted by our own budget (and fear of consequences).

Laser Skin Rejuvenation

But what factors should be taken into account when deciding whether to opt for services such as laser skin rejuvenation?

Why do it?
People choose to try laserskin rejuvenation for many reasons. Wrinkles are a natural part of the ageing process, but the loss of elasticity, tension, plumpness and hydration in the skin can often result in people looking older than they are. Smokers, sun-worshippers and people who live stressful lifestyles may notice this in particular. Laser skin rejuvenation is ideal for removing crows feet around the eye area, smoothing out wrinkles from between the nose and the mouth or erasing creases between the eyebrows. At the same time, this line removal treatment has a low level of risks for complications during and after the procedure and is fast and precise. The technique can target the wrinkle-affected areas effectively and efficiently.

How does it work?
Laser skin rejuvenation works by using intense light dots to encourage the growth of collagen under the skin, which ‘plumps out’ wrinkles and fine lines, without causing any damage to the other layers of the skin and surrounding tissue. The procedure is non-abrasive, virtually painless and results in very few side effects if any at all. From those looking for wrinkles removal, London clinics are seeing a rise in the procedure, due to the fact that it is quick and requires little recovery or healing time.

What are the pros and cons?
As already mentioned, laser wrinkle removal is fast, effective and allows patients to continue with everyday activities almost immediately afterwards. The low level of complications during and after the procedure as well as the applicability to most skin types, regardless of various skin conditions, make this form of skin treatment so appealing in comparison to other popular forms of line removal treatments. However, finance and insurance could be factors to consider, which will vary depending on the size of the affected area in question for treatment.

Is it suitable for me?
Before undergoing any cosmetic procedure, it is important to assess your suitability in a specialized clinic. Laser skin rejuvenation can be used to treat people of both genders and all skin types and colors, although special precautions may be taken for people with darker skin. While research on the internet can give you a wide range of information and answer many of your questions, it’s best to make use of the free consultations that skin clinics often offer. Each skin is slightly different and so any treatment plan needs to be tailored to exactly that.

The Five Things You Should Be Doing To Keep Your Teeth In Top Condition

We are all taught as children how to look after our teeth but since our childhood the technology and various methods available for keeping our teeth in great condition has changed. There’s a lot more we can do now but if we were taught to look after our teeth one way we may not be aware that what we are doing isn’t right or maybe it’s just not enough. Here are five things you must do to ensure your teeth, gums and mouth are perfectly healthy-

dental health tips

Brushing
Brushing? Surely everybody brushes? Well I’d like to think so, but it’s how you’re brushing your teeth that could be causing issues. Most of us were brought up using a hand held manual toothbrush but today dentists advise that we use an electric toothbrush for a better clean. Many of those who do use an electric toothbrush still use it like a manual brush, physically brushing from side to side. The most effective way to use an electric toothbrush is to hold it still on each tooth, moving it round from the front to the sides and the back.

Flossing
Flossing is something a lot of us skip mainly because we don’t know the benefits. Whilst brushing properly with an electric toothbrush and good toothpaste gets rid of most of the plaque and bacteria in your mouth some can be left behind in between your teeth. Flossing properly will remove this and ensures that nothing is left behind. You need to floss every morning and night after brushing your teeth to help keep decay at bay.

Rinsing
The third step to keeping your teeth and mouth in perfect health is rinsing properly with mouthwash. Through brushing you have dislodged and removed most of the bacteria but until you rise some of it will remain in your mouth. At the end of brushing and flossing morning and night use an anti-bacterial mouth wash to thoroughly rinse your mouth to finish your cleaning regime.

Regular Checkups
Visiting the dentist every 6 months is essential to your oral health. By visiting the dentist for checkups on a regular basis you can make sure any problems with your teeth such as decay or disease can be caught early on and rectified causing the minimum damage possible. Dentists can also offer advice and catch you out if you’re not doing something quite right when it comes to your oral care to ensure you are getting the most out possible of your care regime and it’s worth the time you put in.

Keep Sugar At A Minimum
Sugary treats not only are bad for our overall healthy but also our teeth too. Too much sugar can rot your teeth at an alarming rate accelerating decay. Try to keep them for an occasional treat to avoid much damage to your teeth. Never brush your teeth straight after eating something sugary as this will only rub the sugar into the protective enamel damaging it. Wait at least an hour after eating to brush your teeth.
