The iPhone 5C Vs. iPhone 5S

If you’re like most people, you want a phone that is going to do everything you need it to do, is user-friendly and doesn’t cost a small fortune.  With the simultaneous release of both the iPhone 5C and 5S, many consumers are wondering which is right for them – the colorful, less expensive 5C or the powerful 5S.  Read on for a rundown of some the features of both of Apple’s latest devices. 

The Processors.  If you are looking for a phone with more speed and power, it’s a pretty good bet that the 5S is the right phone for your needs.  The 5S has an A7 processor which is nearly twice as fast as the A6 processor in the 5C.  In addition, the A7 processor is 64-bit and the A6 is 32-bit.  This means that the A7 processor can process twice the data in the same amount of time as the A6 processor.

Price.  The 5C wins hands down on the price point.  The 5C runs $99 for the 16GB version and $199 for the 32GB device.  The 5S, however, runs about $199 for the 16GB device, $299 for the 32GB and the 64GB device tops out at $399.  It must be noted that regardless of the phone you choose, these prices typically require a two-year contract agreement with your cell phone service provider.

Physical Characteristics.  In some ways, the 5C and 5S are very similar in physical attributes.  They both have a 4-inch screen with a resolution of 1136 X 640 pixels.  They are approximately the same weight – the 5C is less than one ounce heavier than the 5S.  However, the casing on the two phones is very different.  The 5C has a soft, silicon rubber casing, while the 5S has the more traditional anodized aluminum casing.  The color options for the two phones are also very different.  While the 5S does come in a new color –gold—in addition to the more standard silver or gray, the 5C is definitely the much more colorful of the two devices.  Users can choose between blue, green, yellow, pink or white.

Storage.  If storage is a deal-breaker when it comes to phones, then the 5S may be the right way to go for your particular needs.  The 5S offers 16GB, 32GB and 64GB options, as compared to only 16GB and 32GB for the iPhone 5C.

Camera.  The 5C’s camera is definitely an improvement from previous iPhone versions; however, the improvements are more subtle than those found on the 5S.  While both cameras are 8 megapixels, the 5S has a slow-motion video recording option, a five-element lens, larger sensor, dual flash and automatic image stabilization.  

Cool New Technology Features.  On this particular topic, the 5C simply doesn’t compare to the 5S.  The 5S has the Touch ID fingerprint sensor on the home button.  Using Touch ID allows you to by-pass the log-in screen and even buy music, videos and more on iTunes.  The 5S also has a new motion co-processor that makes health and health apps much more functional.  

All in all, if you are an avid app user, take a lot of photos with your phone that you need to be of the highest quality possible and/or you need lots of storage, the 5S may be a better fit for you.  If you’re on a budget, but still want a phone that has improved features from the iPhone 4S and 5, then the 5C might just be the right device for you.

The Automated Car Of The Future

It's finally coming to fruition, the dawn of the car of the future.  First it begins with an alternative fuel, in this case electricity freeing the car from the restraints of fossil fuels, then the computer automation takes over as in I, Robot with Will Smith or Minority Report with Tom Cruise, next our cars are being shuffled along the highways as if on an assembly line, "Look Ma', no hands!"  Both movies depict an automated car being driven and still in motion while the driver is engaged in full on computer interaction.  With the advent of the electric car, the computer has become an expected accessory with full dashboard utilization and finally these cars are being bought with some enthusiasm.

Add to that, the creation of electric highways and it's only a matter of time now. Soon our highways will look like the future with no hands driving and data entry controlling your destinations. Sure, we're still far away from this kind of highway system.  It will take trillions of dollars to upgrade our roads and upgrade every car, but I can see the beginning of the evolution.

The Chevy Volt is selling like hot cakes and Toyota just released an electric SUV, the RAV 4 EV with a range of only 100 miles before needing to be recharged.  As of today, the best SUV using electric technology is still a hybrid vehicle due to the electric SUV's limited range.  When we come to terms with using smaller cars or create the electric fuel efficient SUV, we'll be on our way to the I, Robot/Minority Report Car.

Okay, so we're still not there yet, but we're getting closer.  We just have one more hurdle to climb, that pesky hands free driving thing.  As soon as that's conquered, we're there.  We will have arrived at the future of driving with automated hands free driving, built in touch computers and cars being refueled in motion.
We're not there yet, but we are seeing fast charging electric fueling stations lining the road like on US Rte 2 and Interstate 5 being so that every 40 to 60 miles cars can be 'rejuiced'.  It's only a matter of time now and the implementation "some" new technological and we will be driving or should I say riding in the comfort of the automated cars of the 21st century.

Samsung Unveils Gold Galaxy S4

Less than two weeks after Apple announced a new gold incarnation of its latest iPhone, it seems Samsung is now jumping on the glitzy bandwagon by introducing a gold version of its flagship Galaxy S4 smartphone.

Samsung's Middle East social feeds on Wednesday announced the Gold Pink and Gold Brown Galaxy S4 units. The pink and brown phones come with a gold-colored backplate and feature the same design and internal components as the Galaxy S4.

Samsung has not disclosed information on pricing or availability. It also appears that, for now, the handsets will only be available to customers in the Middle East.

Samsung's announcement comes days after Apple launched its gold iPhone. That device, which has a champagne-like finish, is the first flagship handset from Apple that hasn't come in black or white colors.
