4 Effective Pest Control Gadgets To Keep Your Home Pest Free

A lot of households around the world are infested with pests. Whether its insects, bugs, rodents, or wildlife, you'll see these unwanted creatures almost anywhere- even in clean households. In your own home, you might have noticed the presence of ants, flies, mosquitoes, roaches, bedbugs, and dust mites. The presence of these insects and bugs should raise an alarm since they are known carriers of potentially fatal diseases and viruses. To this end, controlling or completely eliminating them in your property is very important.

A pest free home means you and your family will live in a healthier and safer home since health risks associated with these pests are significantly lowered. If you have pests at home, you can try eliminating them through organic methods. If the infestation is much more serious, you can also try effective electronic pest control gadgets. These gadgets are less harmful, environmentally-safe, and they can successfully deter pests.

Pest Control Gadgets

Spider Catcher

There is a good reason why many people are afraid of spiders. Although most spiders do not harm human beings, there are certain types of spiders whose bite results to fatal health conditions. For instance, poisonous spiders, such as the brown recluse spider and black widow spider, will not only bite but they also trigger allergic reactions that can be fatal for the victim. So how do you get rid of these eight-legged creatures?
You can use Spider Catcher, a cool gadget that can deal with these multi-legged monsters. All you have to do is simply aim the end of the gadget on top of the spider and press a button. The bristles on the tip of the gadget will open, and then it will enclose the spider between its bristles. Once captured, you can release it outside, away from your home.

Solar Rodent Repeller

One of the most common pests found in every household are rodents. These nasty critters carry pathogenic organisms, such as salmonella and rabies. In addition, they are also known carriers of deadly diseases and viruses. To this end, you need to safely get rid of them before they start to reproduce and infest your home.
You can consider using a solar rodent repeller. This electronic device transmits sonic energy pulses that irritate rodents. Once you switch on this device, rats and mice will start looking for other quiet hiding places, leaving certain areas of your home completely rodent-free. If you place this device in strategic areas of your home, you can deter rodents from dwelling in your property.

Electronic Rodent Trap

Another option for rodent control is an electronic rodent trap. Traditional traps, such as sticky traps, are also effective; however, even if you do catch a rat or mice through this method, you will need to wait a few days before the creature dies. With electric traps, you will have better chance of instantly killing the rodents. Keep in mind though that this pest control device is not for softhearted homeowners.

Insect Zapper

If you are constantly bothered by flies and mosquitoes buzzing around and biting you, you should find ways to get rid of them. Not only are these insects annoying, but they also carry health risks. For instance, mosquitoes can carry potentially fatal diseases, such as Dengue Fever and Malaria. The best way to get rid of these insects is to deprive them of their basic needs, such as food, water, and breeding ground.
Another method is to use insect zappers. This device uses ultraviolet light which attracts mosquitoes and flies. If these insects touch the coil, they will be electrocuted and killed. You can hang this device from the ceiling or you can place them on a table or on the ground.

These gadgets will provide you a helping hand in controlling and eradicating common household pests. Getting rid of these nasty creatures in or outside your house is not limited to the use of pesticides, organic pest control techniques, or other pest control products. You can also use the latest and safest electronic pest control gadgets available in the market today.

Nissan's Nismo "SmartWatch" Connects Car With Driver

Many car owners consider their cars to be much more than a machine that transports them from point A to point B. They look upon it as their “baby,” and today, cars are more of a lifestyle statement than just a means of transportation. That was the good news.

The great news is that motoring is all set to become more exciting, thanks to technology. You may have heard of or experienced alternative fuels, hybrid cars, automatic cars, etc., but have you ever heard of a smart watch that connects the car owner with his car?

Nissan's Nismo SmartWatch

If you haven’t, here’s the news:

Nissan’s Nismo Connects Car With Driver
Many mobile phone companies have announced plans to launch Dick Tracy-Watch-like smartwatches and users are eagerly waiting for the product. The smartwatches that are currently available in the market notify users of incoming calls and allow them to listen to music, connect to social media, and download apps.

Now, automobile major, Nissan, has jumped on this bandwagon and launched a different kind of smartwatch, Nismo. This goal of this smartwatch is to quantify the connection between the car and its driver.

Like other smartwatches, Nismo too uses Bluetooth technology. It gathers telemetry and efficiency data from the car and allows the driver to measure his track performance. For example, the watch can measure car speed and fuel consumption. It also measures the driver’s health by measuring his heart rate and then signals a warning if it shoots above normal. The great thing about it is that it can correlate data from the car and the driver – for example, it can report car speed and driver’s heart beat (90 miles per hour/109 heart beats per minute). This feature allows drivers to figure out the level of speeding that can impact their health.

Nismo also can work as a health advisor – for example, a driver who smokes or uses a wireless instrument to engage in a mobile phone conversation while driving may likely see his heart rate shooting up and stop whatever he’s doing.

Nissan is not stopping at the heart rate – it plans to add ECG (electrocardiogram), electroencephalogram, and skin temperature monitoring features to the watch.

The Nismo Hardware
Nismo is a 1-solid-piece watch that smoothly connects around the wrist. It is stylish yet robust, and can take some damage. The battery lasts for 7 days and users can charge it through a USB port.

Summing Up
People who own used Nissan cars, or Nissans equipped with rebuilt engines, or even newer variants cannot work with the Nismo. Currently, the watch works only for Nissan’s 370Z, Juke and the forthcoming GT-R models. Nissan also has not released any information about the watch’s availability and price, and this may have left many car lovers disappointed.

The biggest howler in this product launch is that though Nissan’s handed out all the tech-y information about the Nismo, there is one minor detail they have left out – they have nowhere mentioned if Nismo can tell the time!

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 - Pros And Cons Of A Smartphone With A 5.5' Screen

When I traded in my Galaxy Note for the second generation of the phone, everybody around me was like “What, you are going to get an even bigger one? What are you going to do with a portable TV?” Soon thereafter, though, they learned to love it as much as I do. A phone with a large screen is not a choice that everyone would make but perhaps it may help if i give some reasons why I made that choice and what the pros and cons are.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2

Why The Screen Makes A Difference

A big screen is not enough to make a phablet a hit – just have a look at the LG Intuition. It is good software that can make a difference between a top-notch phone and a mediocre one, and the Note 2 has what it takes to be classified among the best smartphones on today’s market:
  • Multi-Window. The Multi-Window view lets users put two or more windows on the same screen. You can, for instance, take notes while you are watching a video, or browse the web and be in a conference with your friends on Skype.
  • Pop-ups. The Note 2 also offers a pop-up video player and a pop-up browser that lets you watch a video or surf the web on top of another application.
  • Dual-pane views. Some screens come with split views when in landscape mode. In an email screen, for instance, you can see the list of messages on the left side and a preview of the selected email on the right.

Pros And Cons Of The Galaxy Note 2

Here is a brief overview of the pros and cons of this smartphone.

Pros

  • Fast mobile broadband connectivity. The phone speaks 4G HSPA+ or LTE.
  • Fast and responsive interface powered by a quad-core processor and 2 GB of RAM.
  • Software features that enhance the multitasking experience.
  • New functionalities for the S Pen (e.g. hover, air view).
  • Dual-pane views in the Email, Contacts or Messaging screens.
  • Image sharing features introduced in the Galaxy S3.
  • Long battery life.

Cons

  • It’s too large for some peoples’ tastes. Then again, there are people who would rather drive a Smart Fortwo than a Hummer, so who am I to judge?
  • Awkward to hold to your face when making a phone call; a Bluetooth headset could be necessary.
  • Glossy screen, so it’s hard to use outside in very bright light. This is a major issue with most smartphones these days though, and I would so much like a screen with something like Amazon’s e-Ink technology.
  • Regarding its size, many have argued that it’s too large to be carried in a pocket. This is not exactly true – it does fit more pockets, it’s just that it’s a bit uncomfortable. I have seen guys who carry it in the same pocket with a wallet and the car keys and aren’t complaining. The only problem might be with ladies with skin-tight jeans – but the phone fits in any kind of purse easily.

Blackberry Launches Two New Models This Year

Q5 Or 9720?

Those who are fans of the Blackberry brand are sure to want to be loyal to the brand but the company, which has been ailing for sometime now, is giving little chance for its fans to support its causes. Not only has it not been able to move on with the revolution that took place in the smartphone era, it also has been unable to offer anything substantially new to its fans in the latest models released. The new BlackBerry 9720 seems to be the latest offering of the company but this smartphone also seems pretty mediocre when compared to the older version. The Blackberry Q5 was released in the month of June while the 9720 is newly released. If one compares the two latest versions, it is difficult to understand what is new or novel about the 9720. The following discussion highlights the salient features of the phone.

Blackberry mobile

Loyal Fans Will Love The QWERTY Keyboard

The QWERTY keyboard is a feature that is being held onto by the company even in its latest model as it is the one thing about the phone that the fans love. Most people love the functional keyboard as the typing can be fast and accurate as compared to the touch screen keyboard of other smartphones which makes typing incorrect and time consuming. Again, the messenger feature of Blackberry is known to be a feature which is an asset for the company and which no other chat or messenger app of others have been able to match upto.

Key Features Of The Blackberry 9720

The following are the key features of the Blackberry phone:
·         The phone is fitted with a 806 Mhz Tavor MGI processor
·         A display screen of 2.8 inches
·         Resolution offered of 480x360 mega pixels and 214 ppi
·         RAM of 512 MB as well as similar amount of internal storage space
·         A rear camera of five megapixel
·         OS 7.1 version of Blackberry
·         1450 mAh battery

Other features of the phone are the presence of a QWERTY keyboard but in terms of features, the Q5 has better and more upgraded features than the Blackberry 9720. Those who are curious to know how the 9720 is different from the other versions can opt for a video demonstration of the phone which is available online.

Current Status Of Blackberry
As the 9720 or the Q5 have failed to land any revolutionary feature in this phone, there is a demand seen which is lackluster and failing as is the company’s performance. The news is that the company is up for sale or will consider going private. The need of the hour is to retain the distinct features of the phones and to combine the latest smartphone technologies in order to provide all the latest features and functionality that most people have come to expect in their phone. Then only will the fans view the phone company and its products with renewed interest.

The PS4: 6 Things You Must Know

This year on February 20th, the highly anticipated next-generation videogame console Sony PlayStation 4 was announced. It is the second next-gen console, after the Xbox One, to be revealed following the launch of Wii U in 2012.

This slew of new features gives us a heads-up on what to expect from Sony’s upcoming gaming device – check out some of the PS4’s new features, as well as Sony’s developments in cloud-gaming, sharing and game interaction.

Sony PlayStation 4

New controller
Alongside the PS4, Sony is releasing the DualShock 4, the latest iteration of its signature controller. The new Dualshock 4 controllers have a touchscreen in the centre, a share button and feature color-coded sensory bars, which will interact with a light bar to determine depth, location and more. Other new features include a clickable touchpad and redesigned joysticks. The new controller also features motion-tracking capabilities based on those used in the PlayStation Move. The Playstation Move will also be compatible with the PS4.

Remote play
Announcing remote play between the PS4 and PlayStation Vita, Sony leapfrogged one of the competing Wii U’s selling points: the ability to take a full-fledged console game off the television and onto a mobile device. Utilizing Gaikai’s streaming software, the PS4 will act as a server and the Vita as a client. According to Gaikai Chief Executive David Perry, the ultimate goal is to make “every PS4 game playable on the PlayStation Vita.” However, it remains unknown how PS4 games, which use a controller with more buttons than the Vita has, will work with such a transition.

Hardware specs
The PS4 will feature an X86 CPU, enhanced PC GPU, 8GB unified memory, local HD and GDDR 5 system memory. What that means in layman’s terms is that the PS4 will be significantly more powerful than the PS3. Nevertheless, users shouldn't expect the same graphical leap as was experienced from the PS2 to PS3. Given the demos on display during Sony’s debut, it’s likely that all but the most hardcore PC gamers will be impressed by the console’s initial graphical displays.

Games
The PS4 has an incredibly vast line-up of games, with more than 40 titles announced before the system has even been released. This includes games from many of Sony’s flagship franchises, such as Gran Turismo 6, Killzone: Shadow Fall, Infamous: Second Son, and Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.

Social as priority
There were rumours that Sony would pursue a significant social infrastructure in the PS4, and for once, rumours are true. The PS4 appears to have been built from the ground up with social in mind, integrating real-world identification, Facebook and dynamic real-time sharing. Players will be able to not just quickly cut clips of recent gameplay footage, but stream live game sessions to friends, thanks to Sony’s collaboration with Ustream.

Second Screens
The PS3 was linked with PlayStation Vita through Cross-Play, and players are able to stop playing the game on one device and resume on the other. With the PS4, an entire game can even be streamed from the console to PS Vita over Wi-Fi networks. In fact, Sony had indicated their goal of making most PS4 game titles playable on PS Vita, except those exclusively camera-based games. The capacity of remote play is made possible with Sony’s acquisition of Gaikai cloud technology as a game server. Tech just keeps getting cooler.

Yuan Liu is a freelancer who is going to FlexiRent the PS4 before she buys – she’s worried she’ll like the Xbox One more.
